Meet Our Founder

Dr. Thomas Atkinson

Physician Founder & CEO, Bluestem Family Medical

Dr. Thomas Atkinson is a board-certified family medicine physician and the founder of Bluestem Family Medical. He completed his medical education at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport and his family medicine training through the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa.

With more than 20 years of primary care experience, Dr. Atkinson has cared for patients and families across Oklahoma in both employed and independent practice settings. Before founding Bluestem Family Medical, he served as a primary care physician in the Tulsa, Owasso, Jenks, and Lawton communities, including more than a decade as the owner and primary care physician of Atkinson Medical.

His approach to care is personal, practical, and relationship-driven. Dr. Atkinson believes patients deserve a physician who listens, explains, and partners with them over time—not rushed visits or one-size-fits-all care. Through Bluestem Family Medical, his goal is to provide thoughtful, comprehensive family medicine for patients ages 5 and older, with a focus on prevention, chronic disease management, wellness, and long-term health.
